Learn Baccarat Rules
Baccarat takes less than five minutes to learn how to play. It is quite fun and very easy!
Betting
There are only three choices to make for betting on a game of Baccarat. You may bet on Bank Hand, Player Hand and/or a Tie. When betting on Bank Hand there is a 5% required commission to the Bank. Even with this added commission it is well worth it to bet on Bank Hand.
It is important to understand that there is only ONE Player Hand. Each player does not receive a hand.
The dealer is the one that must do all the work in Baccarat. The players merely make a bet and sit, watch, and cross their fingers. Everything is done automatically and according to rules. There are no decisions besides where to bet your money and how much to bet.
Dealer
After all the bets have been placed, two cards are dealt for Player Hand and two cards are dealt for Bank Hand.
In order to determine the value of each hand some simple math is done. Every card is worth its numerical face value except for Aces and face cards which are worth nothing, or 0. If the numerical value of the hand is greater than ten the “tens” are ignored or subtracted. Ex, 9 and 9: 9 + 9 = 18 – 10 = 8.
The next step is to look at the value of the Player Hand. If the Player Hand value is between 0 and 5, one more card must be dealt. Otherwise the Player Hand stands as it is.
Next the Bank Hand value is used to determine the next step.
If Bank Hand is ___ and Players Hand is ___ then ___.
3; 0 to 7; Draw one card.
4; 0 or 2 to 7; Draw one card.
5; 4 to 7; Draw one card.
6; 6 or 7; Draw one card.
7 to 9; Doesn’t matter; stand.
The Winner
The winner is the hand that has the closest value to 9.
